a) Find out the most common formats for images and write a short description of the features of esach of them.


JPEG (Joint Photomafile format)

The TIFF (Tagged Image File Format)

RAW refers to a family of raw image formats that are options available on some digital cameras.

The PNG (Portable Network Graphics) file format was created as the free, open-source successor to the GIF.

GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) GIF format is suitable for storing graphics with relatively few colors such as simple diagrams, shapes, logos and cartoon style images.

The BMP file format (Windows bitmap)Typically, BMP files are uncompressed, hence they are large; the advantage is their simplicity and wide acceptance in Windows programs.

Netpbm format is a family including the portable pixmap file format (PPM), the portable graymap file format (PGM) and the portable bitmap file format (PBM)


CGM (Computer Graphics Metafile) is a file format for 2D vector graphics, raster graphics, and text, and is defined by ISO/IEC 8632.

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is an open standard created and developed by the World Wide Web Consortium to address the need .
Other image file formats of vector type include:

* ODG (OpenDocument Graphics), an open standard.
* EPS (Encapsulated PostScript)
* PDF (Portable Document Format)
* SWF (shockwave Flash)
* WMF / EMF (Windows Metafile / Enhanced Metafile)
* XPS (XML Paper Specification)

Internet safety

To save our computer of virus, etc.... we must be careful with strangers, Install anti-virus software and install anti spy-ware. We musn't tell our age, our telephone number, our adress, send photos, stik personal information, open documents that you don't know, etc...
Also, we should put passwords in the computer and use strong passwords. We shouldn't open adult page and open souspicious documents.

We have to stay alert! :)

Hello, our names are Joana, Violeta and Marina, we are 12 years old, except joana that is 13. We live in Vila Olimpica and we went to mafalda nusery school, and CEIP Vila Olímpica primary school. Now we study at IES Icària secondary school.
